In June of 2009, the Las Vegas Sun tackled the reason why Nevada residents are burdened with some of the highest insurance premiums in the United States. In an article entitled “Thieves, drunks and lawyers are why your rates are so high”, an actuary for the Nevada Division of Insurance explained that the “’higher the claim frequency and higher the settlement, the higher the cost’ of insurance.”
